NZ snowboarder's narrow medal miss at Pyeongchang

From Morning Report, 7:33 am on 12 February 2018

Snowboarder Carlos Garcia Knight narrowly missed out on securing New Zealand's second ever winter Olympics medal yesterday but says he's proved he can compete at the sport's top level. It's been a long wait since skier Annelise Coberger won silver in the slalom in 1992, and after a stylish and assured first run in the slopestyle finals Garcia Knight was leading the competitition. But as his rivals stepped up, the 20-year-old from Christchurch faltered, failing to improve on his first round score and slipping to fifth overall. New Zealand's snowboarding medal hopes are still alive with 16-year-old Zoi Sadowski Synnott competing in the womens slopestyle finals while Garcia Knight will compete in the Big Air.
