Rental market 'dismal' - housing report author

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 12 February 2018

One of the co-authors of the government's housing stocktake report that will be published this morning says the rental market is dismal and that levels of homelessness in the country will not improve anytime soon. Housing Minister Phil Twyford commissioned the report in November saying the new government needed an accurate picture of the housing crisis, after years of denial and spin by the National government. Co-author and policy analyst with the Salvation Army, Alan Johnson, told RNZ reporter Benedict Collins the report found the rental market is woeful - with many landlords just looking for capital gains.
