House prices picking up after election, holidays
House price growth is showing signs of picking up again. The latest data from Quotable Value - or QV - found nationwide house prices grew by 6.4 percent in the year to the end of January, with a national average price of $671,500. Prices in Auckland rose at its fastest pace in more than a year, while Hawkes Bay, Wellington, and the top of the South Island experienced strong gains, offsetting slower growth in Waikato and the Bay of Plenty. QV general manager David Nagel tells Guyon Espiner after 100 days of the new government, the jitters of change have steadied.
