From Morning Report, 7:24 am on 9 February 2018

Immigration New Zealand says chefs at a Filipino restaurant in Auckland were treated like slaves. The owners of Birkenhead restaurant 3 Kings Food, Luisito and Virgil Balajadia, were sentenced at the Auckland District Court on Thursday. They were found guily of exploitation, and giving fake or misleading information about five Filipino employees they sponsored to come to New Zealand. Immigration NZ's assistant general manager, Peter Devoy, says the people were employed as chefs but were doing much more.
