Port Hills recovering slowly after 2017 fire

From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 7 February 2018

Next week will mark one year since Christchurch's devastating Port Hills Fires began. The two suspicious blazes broke out on several kilometres apart on February 13 and burned uncontrolled for more than a week - destroying nine homes and tearing through nearly 2000 hectares of land, including some native bush reserves. Over the past 12 months volunteers have been replacing the thousands of plants destroyed in the blaze, and researchers have been monitoring the recovery of the area. RNZ reporter, Maja Burry, checked in on progress one year on.
