Auckland Council has been left red faced after promoting a Waitakere ranges track on social media despite the local iwi placing a rahui, or ban, on the area. A post on the council tourism body's What's On In Auckland Facebook page encouraged people to get out and visit Kitekite falls on Waitangi Day. Te Kawerau a Maki placed a rahui on the ranges, and the council has closed many tracks, as part of a campaign to stop the spread of kauri dieback disease.
