Christchurch fights fires as rest of NZ drenched

From Morning Report, 6:44 am on 2 February 2018

While much of the country was being drenched, Christchurch continued to swelter yesterday. Fires continued to flare up in the region and one at West Melton that burned through 10 hectares of farmland forced the evacuation of about 50 people living nearby. Their homes were evacuated as a precaution although residents were later allowed to return home. Dave Stackhouse from Fire and Emergency is the Area Commander for Christchurch, and joins us with the latest.
