Trump to sign bitterly fought tax overhaul

US House of Representatives Paul Ryan has past the biggest overhaul of the US tax code in 30 years into law. The sweeping US$1.5 trillion bill now goes to President Donald Trump for his signature. The vote, which was required again this morning after a procedural snafu yesterday seals Mr Trump's first major legislative victory. However the bill has been bitterly fought by Democrats on the grounds it slashes taxes for corporations and the wealthy while giving only mixed, temporary tax relief to middle-class Americans.
