Tenants welcome news homes will not be sold

From Morning Report, 6:18 am on 21 December 2017

Housing New Zealand tenants in Christchurch are welcoming news the government is scrapping plans to sell 2,500 state homes in the city. Housing Minister Phil Twyford says the announcement spells the end of the systematic large-scale sales by the previous government. Naenae Higgs moved out of her state house six months ago but before then had been actively campaigning against the sales. She tells RNZ reporter Conan Young she was horrified when told state houses in her neighbourhood were to be sold to a new housing provider.
