Schools' gifts, overseas trips worry auditors

From Morning Report, 8:13 am on 19 December 2017

Auditors have highlighted unusual and high spending at schools including one that bought a ride-on mower for a departing principal and another that collected thousands of dollars for disaster relief in Fiji and kept it for itself. The Auditor-General's annual summary of audits of schools' annual reports also notes a $250,000 trip to Rarotonga and financial problems at several schools. RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen has been reading the report and explains the details with Guyon Espiner.
