Briscoes boss fights to land helicopter at Herne Bay home

From Morning Report, 7:11 am on 11 December 2017

The managing director of Briscoes is appealing against an Auckland Council decision that restricts how often he can land his helicopter at his new home. Rod Duke and his wife Patricia Duke are building a mansion on Sarsfield Street in Herne Bay - one of the wealthiest suburbs in the city. Their property has a boat shed which overlooks the popular Sentinal Beach Reserve. They have consent to transform it into a helicopter pad - but one of the conditions is that they only land and take off three times in the space of seven days. Sally Murphy has been looking in to this. She says the Dukes have taken their appeal to the Environment Court.
