Shane Jones considers training for rail work

From Morning Report, 7:38 am on 5 December 2017

A plan to train people to work on the railways is one of the ideas being considered by the Regional Economic Development Minister, Shane Jones. He says he wants to get young, unemployed people "off the couch" and is proposing what he's calling a work-for-the-dole scheme. The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, says anyone who takes part in such a programme will receive the minimum wage. Alby Barr from the railway workers union is an advocate for Northland rail and says one of the plans is for a rail school, based in Whangarei.
