Waitakere ranges ban to face Auckland Council vote

Auckland Council will vote next week on whether to ban people from the Waitakere Ranges. Total closure is one of the options mooted to fight kauri dieback, the rapidly spreading disease that's threatening the ranges' entire kauri population. The council's been criticised for inaction but its Environment Committee is set to make a decision on what to do.
