Bashar al-Assad makes unannounced visit to Russia
Russian President Vladamir Putin has met overnight with the leaders of Iran and Turkey to discuss Syria's future. It comes after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made an unannounced visit to Russia to meet with Mr Putin. Mr Putin has called for a long-term political settlement in Syria once what he described as the "fight against terrorism" is over. At least 400,000 people, including 26,000 children have been killed during the six-year conflict. Patrick Wintour is the diplomatic editor for The Guardian and joins us with the details.
