Piha bach owner fears big rates rise

The owner of a bach in Piha says she's bracing for a big hike in rates after its value soared in Auckland Council's latest valuations. Overall, Auckland values jumped 46 percent since the last valuations three years ago. But some areas, like Piha, have risen far above the average. Juliet Hawkswood told says she would find the figures easier to accept if she knew how the council had caculated them.
