In an effort to avoid a repeat of last weekend, a family event is going to be held in Ōtāhuhu for Tonga fans this weekend. What started out as a celebration turned into mass disorder, drunkenness and violence in the Ōtāhuhu shopping mall on Saturday after Tonga's historic win over the Kiwi rugby league team in Hamilton.The family event proposed last night will run after the World Cup game finishes at 7pm, with live music and a parade. Tongan Advisory Council chairman Melino Maka who was at the meeting tells us more needs to be done by the RLWC organisers.
