Fear of financial ruin in the wake of the quake.

From Morning Report, 7:23 am on 14 November 2017

Fear of death and destruction in an earthquake has been supplanted in parts of Welllington by the fear of being ruined financially. A year on from the Kaikoura earthquake, owners of earthquake-prone apartments say they are trapped in a nightmare the Government helped create. Labour's Grant Robertson, who is Finance Minister but stresses he is speaking as Wellington Central's MP, says he is urging his colleagues to look at all the options to help people, including the Government providing low-interest loans. He says none of the hard-pressed apartment owners he has come across are looking for a handout, just some support. Mr Robertson says officials are reporting to the Building and Construction Minister Jenny Salesa about the options.
