Lord of the Rings producer confident in govt's 'Hobbit law'

From Morning Report, 6:09 am on 10 November 2017

The Lord of the Rings producer Barrie Osborne is warning a rewrite of the so-called Hobbit Law could mean big budget films due to be made in New Zealand will end up overseas. Mr Osborne is part of an industry working group the Government's working with to develop a replacement for the 2010 Act, which prevents film industry workers from collective bargaining. Mr Osborne says he is encouraged by the government's move to give film industry workers more rights. But he told RNZ reporter Nita Blake-Persen there's a lot on the line, including James Cameron's Avatar films.
