Ardern heads to APEC to talk TPP

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 9 November 2017

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will attend her first annual gathering of leaders in the Asia Pacific region today, and securing a better free trade deal is firmly in her sights. Ms Ardern leaves for APEC in Vietnam, before heading to the East Asia Summit in the Philippines. Ms Ardern wants to sign the controversial TPP trade pact at APEC, but only if the other countries agree to let New Zealand dump the rules allowing foreign corporates to sue governments. The former Trade Minister Todd McClay told RNZ's Patrick O'Meara there's a better than half chance a deal will be struck. Mr McClay says National will support ratification.
