Ardern's offer to take Manus 150 stays open

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 6 November 2017

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is refusing to side-step Australia and negotiate directly with Papua New Guinea over taking desperate Manus Island detainees. This is despite Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull putting New Zealand's offer to take 150 refugees on the back-burner.The fate of over 600 men with no food, running water or health services, holed up in the now closed detention centre and refusing to leave, was one of several thorny issues discussed by Jacinda Ardern and Malcolm Turnbull yesterday. Ms Ardern told reporters that New Zealand's offer of help still stands.
