Rooftop park, hotel in Auckland Port's 30-year plan

Auckland's port company has unveiled what it wants to do over the next 30 years - with plans for a one-hectare public park on top of a parking building, a new hotel, and a contentious wharf extension.

Ports of Auckland says its plan will allow it to grow during the decades leading up to a possible relocation of the company. Winston Peters campaigned for the port to be moved to Northland but the coalition agreement with Labour simply says a feasibility study will seriously consider shifting north.

RNZ Auckland correspondent Todd Niall has been looking at the plan and joins us with the analysis.
