Ports of Auckland plans renovation despite relocation plans

From Morning Report, 6:46 am on 2 November 2017

Auckland's port company is planning a 1ha rooftop park, a hotel and a wharf extension as it re-organises how it operates on its downtown site over the next 30 years. Ports of Auckland say its plan would allow it to grow during the decades leading up to any possible relocation and would allow it to return Captain Cook Wharf to possible public use. It is beginning today to pitch its ideas to the public before seeking the approval of its owner, Auckland Council. Chief executive Tony Gibson told RNZ Auckland correspondent Todd Niall much of the plan hinges on extending Bledisloe Wharf.
