NZ firefighter trains Syrians for bomb rescues, praises bravery

From Morning Report, 8:38 am on 1 November 2017

A New Zealand firefighter who spent months training Syrian civilians in bomb rescues and emergency first aid has spoken of the bravery of those prepared to put their lives on the line. The Syrian Civil Defence team, known as the White Helmets, requested help from New Zealand because of the work urban search and rescue teams did after the Christchurch earthquake. Nita Blake-Persen has spoken exclusively to the New Zealander who went to the Middle East to train the White Helmets and filed this report.
