Foreign home-buyers to be banned by early 2018

From early next year, foreigners will no longer be able to buy houses in New Zealand. The Government plans to change the Overseas Investment Act to classify houses as sensitive which will allow the sales of homes only to citizens, residents or Australians. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told media at her first post-Cabinet news conference yesterday both New Zealand First and the Greens back the law change.
