New city in South Auckland pitched as housing fix

satellite city in South Auckland that could house 500-thousand people is being proposed as a way to deal with the housing shortage. Housing is a key priority for the new government, and the new minister, Phil Twyford, has already pledged to build whole new communities. The small settlement of Paerata, just north of Pukekohe, has been identified by Infrastructure New Zealand as an option for the new city. Stephen Selwood is the chief executive of Infrastructure New Zealand and joins us with his view.
