A 26-year-old Australian was sentenced to 24 years in jail yesterday for his part in an attempt to smuggle 500kg of P into the country. Malachi Tuilotolava was part of a group that brought the drug ashore from a small boat off a remote Northland beach last year. The haul was the largest import of methamphetamine ever discovered in New Zealand, with a street value of between $130 and $150 million.
