Chaos as Barcelona waits for Catalonia independence
Catalan's president has ruled out an election, and has not officially declared independence. There are protests across the region as supporters of independence grow impatient. The Catalan government held a referendum earlier in October to break away from Spain. The majority of voters who went to the polls voted for independence, but they were only 43 percent of the possible voting public, and the Spanish government does not accept the result. New York Times reporter Raphael Minder tells us its been a day of complete political chaos.
