Ed Sheeran shows spark Easter test for pubs

From Morning Report, 8:48 am on 26 October 2017

A central Dunedin bar's application to serve alcohol on the sacrosanct days of Good Friday and Easter Sunday will act as a test case for other operators hoping to cater for the massive crowds expected at Ed Sheeran's three concerts in the city. More than 110,000 revellers are expected at the shows over Easter weekend and millions of dollars are expected to be pumped into the local economy. But there's one catch. When concert-goers pour out of the shows late on Thursday and Saturday night, they may find bars subject to restrictive conditions on the stroke of midnight.
