National a 'victim' in copyright case - Mike Chunn

From Morning Report, 6:39 am on 26 October 2017

A long time guardian of New Zealand songwriter's incomes says he feels sorry for the National Party. National has been ordered by the High Court to pay $600,000 to American rapper Eminem's publishers for using music in election advertisements in 2014 that closely resembled an Eminem song. National says it now plans to sue the company that supplied it with the music. Former Split Enz member Mike Chunn spent 11 years in charge of APRA - a copyright collective set up to safeguard songwriters. He tells RNZ reporter Eric Frykberg the National Party is a victim rather than an offender.
