Minimum wage to rise in govt's 'new economic direction'
All three parties in the new government have said capitalism in its current form is not working for many New Zealanders. They're promising a new direction in economic management, declaring the so-called neoliberal experiment a failure. As a starting point, Labour's coalition agreement with New Zealand First includes raising the minimum wage to $20 an hour by 2020. People we spoke to on Auckland's Queen St welcomed the increase but most questioned if it is enough - compared to the rising cost of living.
