Waka taua set for Passchendaele commemorations

From Morning Report, 7:57 am on 3 October 2017

A waka taua - Te Hono ki Aotearoa - will be part of the commemorations of the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele. The battle is considered New Zealand's worst military disaster. Within two hours, 846 Kiwi soldiers were killed, 138 died of their wounds in the next few days, and a further 2,000 were wounded.

Eight kaihoe from New Zealand and six Dutch paddlers will take a waka taua to the waters of the moat around Menin Gate in Belgium. Tamahou Temara is with Toi Maori Aotearoa, and tells us about the event.
