Error gives half town's votes to Māori Party

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 2 October 2017

Residents of a 'true-blue' South Island farming community are breathing a sigh of relief after finding out it was a voting error that placed over half the town's votes with the Māori Party.

The Electoral Commission's preliminary results for Linkwater, near the Marlborough Sounds, show 123 votes out of 215 are for the Māori Party, compared to just 32 for National and 30 for Labour.

But the commission's confirmed there has been a "data entry error" and those 123 votes actually belong to National. Linkwater Country Inn owner Sandy Templeman tells us about the case.
