Children no longer to start school on fifth birthday

The Kiwi tradition of children starting school on their fifth birthday will come to an end at some schools next year. The schools have opted into the cohort entry system introduced by a law change earlier this year. It lets schools make new entrants start on the first day of each term rather than on the day they turn five.
