Council leaves Māori land protestor without water

From Morning Report, 8:37 am on 29 September 2017

A Māori land protestor, living next to Lake Horowhenua is stuck without running water because the district council has turned off the supply and isn't restoring it.

That's despite a warning from health officials that the lack of running water is unsanitary. Phil Taueki has been occupying a building next to the lake for 13 years.

The Horowhenua District Council cut off his water in November, but has since been told it is illegal to leave him with no supply. Michael Bott is the lawyer representing Mr Taueki, and joins us now.
