Auckland electrician Brad Kul is giving his female customers a discount of 12 percent after hearing stories about the gender wage gap.
"A client of mine was asked to fill a role a male colleague had been doing, she walked into the office, asked if her pay rate was going to be the same, and she was laughed at."
He says it's been an issue he's been learning about, which brought about the idea of adding the discount on his invoices.
"It's not marketing because I don't advertise... It's not making a stand, just letting my clients know there's a tradesman who has heard their stories, who may not fully understand what is going on but is standing beside them and saying this is not okay."
