Calm after Tonga's political turmoil

The first commoner elected as Tonga's PM, 'Akilisi Pohiva, seems resigned to the fact his tenure as the longest serving parliamentarian is about to end. RNZ Pacific's Koro Vaka'uta is in Nuku'alofa.

"Despite fears from some, there hasn't been a sign of protest - both Pohiva opponents and supporters seem to have accepted this move and it's possibly a sign of respect the current monarch King Tupou VI is held in," Koro Vaka'uta tells us. 

"I saw the Prime Minister and members of his Cabinet yesterday and they seemed incredibly composed. There were those wondering if a repeat of the 2006 riots were on the cards."
