Severe lack of staff hitting high schools - survey

One in five secondary schools has axed a subject and half have teachers working outside their areas of expertise because of a lack of staff. The figures are from a survey of secondary principals by the Secondary Principals Association and the Post Primary Teachers Association. They show the teacher shortage is worst in Auckland and in science and maths subjects.
