A man who arrived in New Zealand on a fake South African passport in 2015, is no longer in the country after his attempts to secure a work visa failed. The case has highlighted how New Zealand law does not allow for the deporting of people who have "protected person" status despite committing serious crimes such as rape, murder and torture in their homelands.
