Treaty of Waitangi's move to new home imminent

From Morning Report, 7:20 am on 21 April 2017

One of the country's most treasured documents is about to be moved to a new home amid tight security and secrecy about when exactly the shift takes place.

The 177-year-old Treaty of Waitangi along with the Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand and the Women's Suffrage Petition are being trucked 200 metres from the National Archives to the National Library.

The chief archivist, Marilyn Little, is in charge of the move and says it's being organised with one aim in mind - to preserve and keep safe New Zealand's founding documents.
