Onoway Alberta, population 1,029, has hit global headlines after bright pink water began flowing from of its taps.

Local officials say the fuchsia faucet flow poses no risk to health.
The proprietor at Davlyns restaurant in downtown Onoway, Lynette Robertson, told Morning Report it's "not what you would expect to come out of taps these days."
She says it was very exciting " I don't think anything else happened in the country at the time, except our pink water, everything else was put to the sidelines. I think wars were halted while everyone discussed this."
But she says, it is currently minus 20 degrees in Onoway at the moment, so it did create a bit of an issue.

In a statement on the town's community website yesterday, Mayor Dale Krasnow, explains that it "appears a valve may have stuck allowing the potassium permanganate to get into our sump reservoir and thereby into the Town’s water distribution system."
He said the town was "flushing our distribution system" and "making positive progress."
The Mayor says he would like to specifically thank "businesses who have dropped off lunch and treats for our staff."
