Pilot Alan Beck: "pilots won't be taking risks"

From Morning Report, 8:16 am on 16 February 2017

Helicopter pilot Alan Beck is fighting the blaze near a radio site at the summit.

He says there is a strong wind where he is and they are trying to stop the front from moving into transmission lines and homes.

"We're in the clear here now, but you just know it's going to turn dirty in a couple of hours"

The fight to extinguish a huge, out-of-control fire in Christchurch's Port Hills has entered its fourth day.

More than a dozen helicopters helped to fight the fire.
