The fire service has concluded the cause of a blaze that gutted a Rotorua church last week was a faulty fluorescent light.
The assistant area commander Hamish Smith says it's the third fire of its kind in five years in the Rotorua/Taupo area.
St John's Presbyterian Church's Reverend Lance Thomas says it was a relief to know that the fire hadn't been deliberately lit.
