Trump's TPP pullout stokes unease in Japan

Tokyo has rejected an Australian-led bid to proceed with the Trade Pacific Partnership trade pact without the United States.

Instead Japan says it will attempt to persuade US President Donald Trump to reconsider his decision to withdraw from the Trans Pacific Partnership.

The Financial Times' Tokyo correspondent Leo Lewis says while some in Japan welcomed the news the TPP deal was effectively stalled, others were nervous what  that might signal for Japan's future relationship with its key ally the United States.
