Boaties face tough line on lifejackets over summer

From Morning Report, 7:23 am on 22 December 2016

A hardline approach is being taken to policing lifejacket and speeding rules on the water this summer.

Maritime New Zealand is funding what it calls a "no excuses" trial campaign and boaties caught breaking council bylaws will be slapped with fines of up to $300.

It's targetting boaties in Northland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Hawke's Bay, Canterbury, Tasman, Marlborough  and Nelson.
