Veterinarians are distancing themselves from the remarks by Massey University's Chancellor Chris Kelly that are being labelled as sexist

In an interview with the publication Rural News, Mr Kelly, who is also a qualified vet, says women veterinary graduates are worth two-fifths of a male vet.

He put this down to women getting married and having a family, which meant a high fallout rate later on.

There are demands on social media that he should step down over the remarks.

Mr Kelly declined our interview. But he has apologised for his comments via email and admitted that some of the information he provided was not factual.
