A two-week hearing into the experiences of Māori survivors of abuse in state and faith-based care has opened in Auckland.
The hearing is part of the long-running Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.
It was opened with a pōwhiri and karakia by hosts Ngati Whatua at Orakei Marae.
RNZ's Māori News reporter Jamie Tahana is covering it, and spoke to Māni Dunlop.
