Human Rights Commission begins talks with protesters

From Midday Report, 12:10 pm on 23 February 2022

After two weeks of protestors being illegally camped on Parliament's lawn and blocking Wellington streets, the Human Rights Commission has begun conciliatory talks with anti-mandate protestors.

There's been relative calm in the capital today, after a day of heightened tensions which caused three police require medical treatment.

Chief Commissioner Paul Hunt met with protestors yesterday afternoon, in a meeting also attended by the police, Voices for Freedom and the Freedom and Rights Coalition.

He spoke to Midday Report.
