Cleaning-up toxic oil from Kaiapoi waterways after factory fire

Canterbury regional council staff are using booms and a sucker truck to try capture the toxic oil flushed into Kaiapoi's rivers following a major factory blaze.

Sutton Tools went up in flames yesterday morning, sending toxic oil from the manufacturing plant through stormwater systems to rivers and the sea.

Environment Canterbury's coastal response lead Emma Parr talks to Māni Dunlop about the clean up.
