Whānau Āwhina Plunket on the latest child poverty figures

From Midday Report, 12:16 pm on 6 December 2021

Māori, Pacific and disabled children are two to three times more likely to go hungry than Pākehā children, but advocates say that doesn't have to be the case.

The latest Child Poverty Monitor figures show around half of Pacific children, and one in three mokopuna Māori live in households which often run out of food.

Children with disabilities are also twice as likely to experience material hardship than Pākehā.
