Bull sculpture breaks NZ art sale record

The sale of a sculpture of a massive bull sitting on a grand piano has broken New Zealand art records.

Michael Parekowhai's 'A Peak in Darien' fetched more than $2 million - making it the most expensive art work ever sold in Aotearoa, and the highest price paid for a New Zealand artist's work.

Art+Object gallery in Auckland auctioned off 280 items over the weekend, with proceeds totalling more than $15 million.

The gallery's auctioneer Ben Plumbly spoke to Max Towle.
